Western apparel company shifts headquarters to East Bay city

SAN LEANDRO — A Western apparel company has leased most of its office space in San Leandro.

Ariat International, a western-themed apparel company born as a pioneer in manufacturing “a new kind of boot,” has signed a lease for approximately 81,000 square feet of office space at its San Leandro Tech campus. Bert’s San Leandro station.

The rental deal, one of the largest office lease deals ever to take place in Alameda County in 2022, was arranged through brokers Sid Ewing and Matthew Nebel, executives of commercial real estate firm Colliers.

Ariat has leased 80,700 sf at 1500 Alvarado St. in San Leandro. Ariat is relocating from Union City.

Real estate firm Urban Westlake has developed the San Leandro Tech Campus. The project will also include several residential properties.

Under the latest deal, the San Leandro Tech Campus tenants are now Ariat, Ghirardelli Chocolate and software company Aveva.

Aveva leases the entire six-story office building at 1600 Alvarado St. with a total area of ​​132,000 square feet. The building was rented in 2016 by his OSIsoft technology company. In 2021, Aveva acquired his OSIsoft for his $5 billion.

Ghirardelli Chocolate has leased 22,000 square feet on the top floor of the six-story 1500 Alvarado office building for a total of 132,000 square feet.

It was not immediately clear when Ariat would move to its new headquarters in San Leandro, or how many employees it would employ there. However, the move appears to represent Ariat’s expansion.

Ariat will move out of its current Union City headquarters, which totals 64,100 square feet, according to PropertyShark’s website. Ariat did not respond to a request for comment regarding the rental transaction.
