People aren’t islands, but if you want to buy this private island off the coast of Maine, you should give it a try.
New details about the current owner’s status may have something to do with it — and it requires some brave stuff.
Billy Milliken, the owner of the island and a real estate agent at Bold Coast Property, said he was looking for someone who was willing to stay overnight in a secluded area. It can be reached in 10 minutes by boat.
Milliken, 52 years old, insider “To qualify as a buyer, you need to stay,” he explains, wanting new owners to be able to see not only the beauty of the property, but all the quirks that come with it. .. That is, its complete separation.
The price is $ 339,000 and some of the other quirks include the fact that there is no bathroom in the house. Instead, there are remote homes on the island for those who are willing to leave a 540-square-foot home for a midnight run.
Also, there is a lack of running water and heat. Staying on the island during the winter is not ideal. Miriken added that he was away from the island during bad weather and was unsuitable for “people and beasts.”
“There were three different times when the storm surge reached the cottage, and perhaps to some extent under the cottage,” Milliken told insiders. “But it’s rising. It won’t damage the structure or the floor.”
“I let my friends stay there during the winter storm,” he added, adding that he wanted to know what it would be like to live away from what the island could offer, such as fish, lajonkairia, and mussels. I did. “He really made it rough. He was ready to go home three days later.”
Milliken admits that he likes to share the island with family and close friends who tend to go on day trips rather than staying overnight.
For Milliken, he said, the beauty of the island comes during the summer, “you can experience the ocean so much and be part of it.”
The condition is not always dangerous. He remembered that the water came out on the island during the still cold summer.
“It was just such a relief, a physical relief,” he said of the coastal breeze. “I slept outside in a hammock. It was the best sleep I’ve ever had.”
According to Milliken, the two prospects have already completed the overnight request, and the party for the three dares to stay on a very dark, remote island.
“It will come from the intestines,” Milliken said. “When it’s right, it’s right. I’ll feel it, and they’ll feel it.”
And Milliken seems to have found a buyer for his Daredevil. Post learned that the 1.5-acre island signed a deal over the weekend.
Milliken, who owns the island for over a decade, explained why he stayed there for so long.
“There are a lot of busy and distracting things in our lives, but when you’re on the island, you feel really small,” Milliken said. “It’s very healthy to be able to hear your voice alone. When you’re there, you’re a natural guest.”
“The longer I own the island, the more I understand that it’s a special place,” he added.
