OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi (WLOX) – For Cindy Greffe, her cottage in Oak Park in Ocean Springs lived up to expectations and ticked all the boxes.
She and her husband are scaling back.
“This small community is perfect for us retired people, and having two bedrooms would work very well,” she said. “We don’t want that kind of external upkeep. We want an easy, well-maintained location and this little area is exactly what we were looking for.”
The Oak Park Cottage has been put up for sale for the first time.
A 2 acre, 30 unit community off Government Street in the Golf Cart District was built in 2011 for rent. Now, the development company has decided to sell all units to individuals who want full-time residence or invest in short- or long-term rental space.
A company called Rain Residential, which acted as the property manager while the cottage was rented, now works with the developer to sell the unit.
Seven contracts have already been signed since it hit the market last week.
Rain Residential’s Roxy Condrey said: “So it’s very difficult to have affordable options in this area, and it’s a great opportunity to offer people who want more affordable access to downtown and this area.”
The community has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom floor plans priced from $149,000 to $380,000.
Grefe said this would be their main residence.
“Like most condos, there’s no one above us, no one beside us banging on the walls,” she said. “It’s a standalone unit and we really like the idea.”
But is she sold?
“I’m going to call my Realtors right now and make an offer,” she said with a smile. “Yes. We are definitely going to get one.”
Once all units are sold, a condominium association is formed to maintain the community through covenants.
If you want to know more, Rain Residential will be hosting an open house on Thursday from 3-6pm.
