For the third year in a row, Atherton, California is the most expensive zip code to own a home in the United States.
Exclusive Bay Area town homes will sell for a median price of $9 million in 2022, up 0.56% from 2021. According to an analysis by online realtor RealtyHopThe #1 ranking dates back to three years ago when the annual rankings were first tracked.
Atherton, near Stanford University and home to tech executives and venture capitalists, has resisted the development of apartment complexeskept the house large and exclusive.
In second place is Sagaponack, New York, an enclave with hundreds of residents in the Hamptons, followed by Los Angeles’ gorgeous Bel Air neighborhood. Third place is probably his most famous ZIP code in the US: 90210 — the namesake of his 90s teen soap opera “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco are some of the wealthiest cities in the world, so it’s no surprise that zip codes in or near these cities dominate the rankings.
The median home price in the 100 most expensive zip codes will be $2,749,500 in 2022, an increase of 11.03% from last year, the study said.
To compile the rankings, RealtyHop surveyed the prices of all types of homes in all postal codes in the country from January 1, 2022 to October 19, 2022. Excluded.
