Johnny Cash’s former home in Ventura County, California is on the market for $ 1,795,000.

About 4,500 square feet in size, the five-bedroom home is located in Casitas Springs, a rural community about 80 miles from Los Angeles. According to public records, Mr. Cash purchased about six acres of land in the early 1960s with his then-wife, Vivian. On top of that, according to Robert Hilburn’s book Johnny Cash: The Life, they built a ranch-style house. The couple divorced in 1966, and according to records, Mr. Cash’s ex-wife sold his home in the early 1970s.Mr. Cash continues to marry June Carter, and the couple Lakeside real estate Outside Nashville, Tennessee, from 1968 to his death in 2003.

Current owners Chip and Joan Hickman said they bought the Casitas Springs home for about $ 739,000 in 2003, Hickman said.

The house has many features that Hickman claims to be original, such as a wall-mounted turntable, an intercom system, and an old man’s clock. The grounds include a swimming pool, a small pool house, multiple warehouses and a fenced meadow.

According to Hickman, Hickman, who has three children, bought the property because he needed a house large enough for his relatives who lived with him at the time. Hickman, who grew up listening to Cash’s music, said the source of his house did not influence his purchase decision.

“I bought it because it was the perfect home to integrate my family,” he said.

He added that the house was “an absolutely great place to live to raise children.” “Behind there are hills for hiking, exploring and building wooden forts.”

Mr. Hickman, who is currently retired, was the former chief of the Montecito Fire Department, and Mr. Hickman, who was also retired, was an insurance agent. He said the couple decided to sell the property because they wanted to be smaller.
