The excavation is underway on 250-252 East83rd Street, which has a 23-story residential tower. Yorkville Section Upper East Side..Designed by SLCE Architects Developed by 83 Owner, LLC, the 272-foot-high structure creates 106 units and a ground floor retail space. Cauldwell Wingate Company is the general contractor for this property on the corner of Second Avenue and East 83rd Street.
Recent photos show the excavation, and a significant amount of soil has already been removed from the site. Pile drivers and trucks have also been discovered. Underground activity is expected to progress in the coming months, and construction may exceed street levels early next year. The height of 250-252 East 83rd Street becomes quite noticeable, mainly in the lower neighborhoods, providing residents with panoramic views and abundant natural light exposure.
The rendering of the main photo shows a relatively symmetrical mass of buildings surrounded by a light-colored façade of stone panels. The floor-to-ceiling window grid is grouped into rectangular clusters with dark mullion dotted with bronze-colored spandrels. At the top is a multi-faceted outdoor crown that gracefully wraps the mechanical bulkhead. It is on top of some retreats that are likely to be a series of private outdoor terraces. There are even more setbacks at the top of the multi-story podium.
The closest subway to the site is the Q train at 86th Avenue Station, directly opposite Second Avenue.
Construction is expected to take three years, and the 250-252 East 83rd Street is expected to be completed in May 2025, as stated by the Construction Commission.
