Excavations and foundation work are underway at 64 University Place, site of an 11-story residential building. Recent photos show the four-story building demolished in 2021 removed and machinery running beneath the ground. Excavators are excavating part of the compartment, and concrete formwork is delineating part of the interior walls in preparation for the impending pour.
Renderings show the building clad in red brick, with wide carved arches across the main elevation. The upper half features a stepped setback for a private terrace covered with extensive landscaping including large trees and climbing plants. The structure is covered with a flat parapet with a landscaped roof terrace.
The residential program includes 9 one-bedrooms, 13 two-bedrooms, four three-bedrooms, and two penthouses. Amenities include a fitness center with a steam room in the basement, a residential lounge, private gardens, and a 24-hour doorman.
The project is located near Union Square Park and Washington Square Park, surrounded by many shops and restaurants. The site is also close to many subways, including the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, W, and L trains at 14th Street-Union Square Station and the R and W trains at 8th Street-NYU Station . , and A, C, E, B, D, F, and M trains at West 4th Street – Washington Square Station.
The target completion date for 64 University Place is Fall 2023.
